In England young women are being given Emergency Contraception “credit cards” that they can simply show to a pharmacist to be given EC. No awkward discussion, probing questions or feeling ashamed. People are hopeful this will decrease the rate of teen pregnancy.
Opponents claim that it’s only encouraging teenage promiscuity. I think that one thing has been proven time and again – teenagers are going to have sex. Not giving them access to EC, condoms, abortions or accurate information is not going cause them to remain abstinent, it’s only going to cause them to have sex without taking precautions.
