I’ve personally had two expeirences with EC. Once, it was Saturday night(or Sunday morning, rather), after a party. Both I and my partner were moderately drunk, and the condom broke without our noticing. It was freshman year of college, I wasn’t in a relationship, and I had lost my virginity only three or so months before. I wasn’t on BC at the time, so I went to the campus nurse to be tested and got the pill two days later, on Monday, as soon as they opened.
The second time, my boyfriend and I had already used the one condom he had, and ended up having sex later in the night. I was on the pill at the time, but had only recently started it and wasn’t sure if it had taken full effect yet, so again, I went to the nurse.
I’ve also taken my friend, when she didn’t want to go alone, gone another time with my best friend, and actually gone and picked it up for a friend before, when she was too embarassed about getting it herself.
I’m extremely glad that we have EC available on campus, as it’s not easy to get in our town, and on a campus that has as high a rate of partying as mine does, I’m sure there would be a lot more unplanned pregnancies than there are now.
